In February 2025, Mountain Pass Materials (MP Materials) announced that its Texas facility has officially begun commercial production of praseodymium metal and has entered the pilot production phase of neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets. The facility utilizes raw materials from the rare earth mine in Mountain Pass, California, and is dedicated to building an integrated production system for rare earth metals, alloys and magnets in the United States. It is expected to produce approximately 1,000 tons of NdFeB permanent magnets annually. It is planned to gradually ramp up production in the second half of the year, and will make its first delivery of automotive-grade sintered magnets to General Motors by the end of the year.
